It was my first ski holiday and I loved every minute of it! Pistepals responded promptly to all my queries before the trip. My ski lesson, lift pass and equipment hire was all pre-arranged and ready on arrival at the Chalet. The airport transfers were efficient and well communicated. The food and company was fantastic! Thank you Pistepals for helping to make a life-long dream come true!
In Jan 2012 I had my first PistePals experience. Although nervous at first about the whole solo traveller holiday Sarah was always on hand to answer any queries or questions, and prior to travelling I thought her personal approach was brilliant.
Upon arrival in Geneva I was promptly located by the transfer company and whisked to Morzine in comfortable fashion and delivered to the Chalet without fuss or delay ensuring an extra afternoons skiing. The chalet was large, warm and more than well equipped with ensuites and a sauna.
Once all my fellow guests arrived the atmosphere was one of contentment, friendly and jovial, and with a very mixed range of ages and backgrounds everyone quickly gelled and enjoyed the super afternoon cakes and local cuisine cooked by the chalet hosts for dinner everyday.
There was freedom during the week to do as you pleased or to take part in the group skiing that Sarah organised daily, including trips across the Swiss border, and to the many restaurants dotted around the ski area for lunch. Sarah’s local knowledge always meant that good advice was close at hand whether it be where the best skiing was, or where the best food and drink could be located, even dealing with lost lift passes and organising repairs and maintenance of equipment.
I would definitely recommend PistePals, and if you find yourself wanting to Ski but with no one to go with they should be the first port of call for a guaranteed great holiday.
I was slightly apprehensive before booking my Pistepals holiday, but Sarah was patient with my emails, quick to respond and put me at ease. From the moment I stepped off the plane till my return everything was organised. It was a fantastic experience and one I would highly recommend.
Pistepals offers the perfect get-away for solo skiers. You have the opportunity to socialise with like-minded people, ski with similar abilities and simply have great fun. I can honestly say that having booked with trepidation, I now think it was one of the best skiing holidays I have been on. Well done Sarah!
I had a really great time in Morzine – in addition the fantastic snow, it was refreshing to meet such a great group of like-minded people. Any apprehensions about going on my own were quickly put to bed. The service provided by Sarah (and the staff at Chalet Perrier) was also excellent and the efforts made to bring the group together were greatly appreciated. I would definitely consider going again and can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone else thinking about it. Tim, Jan 2012
Just returned from one of the best ski holidays. First time I had travelled as a single traveller, but husband/friends don’t ski. Sarah was really helpful at arranging transfers etc, and really looked after us all once in resort. The chalet was very comfortable and food was of a high standard. More importantly met some really lovely friends who I will hopefully ski with again next year. Would definitely book with Pistepals again.
Just got back from my first ever Solo Week. Well what can I say!!! Apart from that I had the most fabulous time, the chalet is fantastic with great views, food, and our host looked after us extremely well.
I was a little nervous about meeting up with a group of guys and gals who I didn’t know. But after my initial big brother moment lasted all of ten minutes!!! it was great. Thanks guys and gals for such a great time.
I really enjoyed my stay. The food was delicious and the accomodation comfortable. It was fun socialising and skiing with the other solo travellers.
Beautiful Chalet, fantastic food, great chalet host, fun ski companions, lots of snow, should I continue?
I’ve been on one of the Pistepals solo holidays and had the most fantastic week in the snow ever!
…The whole experience was so far removed from the usual package trip and by the last few days, we were really starting to feel almost a part of the community in Morzine – saying hello to seasonaires on the street and on the piste, bumping into people we knew from Cafe Chaud, and feeling less and less like tourists every day.
I recently spent a very memorable week in the resort, arranged through PistePals (thanks to Sarah Saunders), and although none of the group had ever met before we soon became the best of friends. Overall my personal experience of the week was: excellent snow, good food, brilliant company and great fun.
Having returned from the recent solo week skiing I would endorse the comments of my fellow travellers, and now friends….
I’d been missing out skiing for a few seasons due to my usual ski buddies no longer being able to go (due to finances and babies). In 2010 I was desperate to ski and didn’t want to miss another year, and so I threw caution to the wind and Googled to see if I could find any solo ski holiday companies.
That’s where I came across pistepals.com. It was exactly what I was looking for – a company putting like minded solo skiers / boarders together in a chalet for a week of winter fun. Although initially I was a bit tentative about going solo, I sent Sarah Saunders some questions which she promptly and reassuringly answered and so I went ahead and booked a week in Morzine. I’m so glad I did.
Prior to arriving in Morzine, Sarah got everyone to email each other with introductions – a great ice breaker. She also sorted out transfers and forwarded a great bunch of information about how the holiday would pan out. Pistepals had picked well with the resort, as Morzine had plenty to offer: a picturesque resort, a variety of shops, nice restaurants, lively bars, great skiing and everyone in resort seemed helpful and friendly.
The chalet accommodation provided was incredible, beautifully constructed in pine, with all the facilities you’d expect and more; great views, extremely warm and comfortable, perfectly located with shops and the ski lifts a short walk away, and a great bar: Cafe Chaud, just a stone’s throw away…. *result*.
The chalet food was amazing, thanks to pistepals chef Sophie, who cooked some beautiful evening meals for us. Sarah was the perfect ambassador for pistepals, and did a fantastic job of being around for us. Spending time showing us local amenities and ski shops; as well as keeping us laughing and inspiring fun conversations. Added to this, Sarah acted as a brilliant hands on ski guide across the whole Portes du Soleil mountain circuit, and when possible, joined us to introduce us to great places when we ventured out for après ski.
Everyone in the chalet really hit it off, we skied together all week and we had many laughs throughout the days and evenings. I’ve been skiing about 18 times, and I can honestly say my week with PistePals, Morzine was one of the best ski holidays I’ve ever had. In fact Pistepals were so good; that for the first time ever I used them again to book a second week’s skiing in the same season. I have no hesitation in saying that I’ll certainly be using them again.
Sarah of Pistepals was very helpful in recommending chalet accommodation for my first solo ski holiday. Her personal knowledge of Morzine, the chalets, the facilities, ski options, transfers etc. made it very easy to just show up and ski.
I met a lovely group of people and Sarah was there too, always up for sharing the skiing and the social. I’ll be going again next year.
I had a great time on a Piste pals holiday in March 2009 so much so that I went again in Jan 2010, it was well organised from start to finish, a good website made it easy to work out dates and prices and a great gang of people and great skiing made it two of the best holidays of my life.
I have been on three holidays with Piste Pals, first to Les Gets in 2007 and twice to Morzine in 2008 and 2009. Before going I was extremely nervous as I was travelling on my own and did not know what the group would be like. However Sarah was great at putting everyone in touch – and at ease.
My fears had however been unfounded since within a few hours of arrival we were settled into a beautiful chalet, and indeed I have made many long-lasting friendships from it. The holidays were very well organised, with the minimum effort needed on my part – simply book, pay, and turn up on time!
I have no hesitation recommending Piste Pals and Sarah Saunders to any solo traveller wanting a wonderful holiday in the snow.
After looking for an xmas holiday that I could attend on my own I found PistePals. I immediately decided to attend and this was my first ever ski trip. Our chalet was based in Les Gets in an ideal position and our host Sarah was very accommodating and welcoming and had organised the trip to allow the group to bond as well as allow people to go off and do their own thing.
The service Sarah offers allows for a more personable experience and I have & will continue to recommend her service to anybody I know looking for a wonderful ski experience and I myself look forward to attending another great trip with her.
Just wanted to thank you for organising my first solo snowboarding holiday to Les Gets in April 2008. You made everything so easy and were so helpful arranging everything for me. As a beginner boarder i had enough to worry about, but the whole trip was a complete success.
Beautiful chalet, gorgeous town and a great bunch of people made for an experience i won’t forget in a hurry.
I first heard of piste pals while looking for a Xmas trip in 2007. Sarah had a couple of places left so I signed up immediately. The resort was in Les Gets in France and because of the numbers I was sharing in a separate chalet (agreed beforehand) just up the road from the main chalet. In a nutshell the trip was very well organized and the chalets spot on. I met a lot of new friends and best of all my wife Tania whom I married in May 2009. Sarah is a gem and a very capable holiday planner and host and I have been back 3 times since.I believe she is branching out now and know with her dedication and personality she will be successful Kevin – Dec 2007, 2008, 2009
Just a note to say thank you for the well organised ski trip to Morzine in Jan 2010, I am not sure if I would have taken the plunge to go on a solo skiing holiday without the back up from yourself & the website, which gave me the confidence to book the trip.
The group of people, all strangers, who turned up on that Saturday, soon gelled together under your guidance & that of the chalet staff.
The Chalet which you choose to use was excellent & I would trust your judgment on accommodation anytime & recommend you to friends. The skiing & guiding was excellent when required both on the slopes & in the evenings. I know a lot of the group re-booked with yourself later in the season, unfortunately I was unable to take the time off or I would definitely booked that trip as well.
Many Thanks & I look forward to using your services in the future,
I stumbled across the Pistepals Website whilst searching for Solo Ski trips for this season after realising none of my usual ski buddies would be available. I’d already discovered most of the large operators add a single occupancy fee to their trips and only make a token effort in terms of integrating Solos into groups. Skiing with likeminded people has to be better than going it alone.
After checking out some groups in the forums I contacted Sarah regarding one of the trips she was organising directly. From the outset Sarah was very helpful in terms of what accommodation was available, what groups were coming together and what would be included in the package.
A few days later I’d booked myself on a Chalet Week in Morzine and Sarah forwarded contact details for the other guests. Sarah was immediately on the case for me, looking initially into flight options and airport transfers and then confirming Lift Pass, Ski Hire and Ski School Requirements, which she’d sort out if I needed her to.
Flights and transfers worked like clockwork and upon arrival it became obvious that the chalet we were in had been well researched. Very modern, with lovely hosts and right in the centre of Morzine giving easy access to the lifts and the rest of the town.
As I’d hoped I met a fantastic group of likeminded skiers and whilst abilities varied the group gelled like old friends and we’ve kept in touch since.
Having enjoyed the first trip so much, I ended up booking a 2nd trip in March – different Chalet, different people, but another excellent trip.
Pistepals will be my first port of call over the coming seasons
